Stanford Super Series

Four rookies in Trinidad's squad for Stanford Super Series

September 30, 2008

Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) have included four rookies - Justin Guillen, Daron Cruickshank, Navin Stewart and Kevon Cooper - in their squad for the Stanford Super Series. They replaced Rayad Emrit, Kieron Pollard and Dave Mohammed, who were included in the Stanford Superstars squad, and the injured Dwayne Bravo.

T&T coach Kelvin Williams was impressed with the four new players. "During the last couple months, these guys have been attending training and doing everything right and that actually reflected in the trial matches," he said.

"Justin and Cruickshank were outstanding with the bat and in the field, and fast bowler Navin Stewart had some fantastic spells. He is very capable as a lower-order batsman who can really hit the ball well. I think it was his all-round ability that actually gave him the edge over the other pacers."

T&T, the Stanford 20/20 champions, will take on Stanford Superstars, England and Middlesex in the Stanford Super Series which begins on October 25 in Antigua. The team manager Colin Borde said that the pool of players who took part in the trials will be kept together to train for the KFC Cup and the 2009 Carib Beer Series.

Trinidad and Tobago squad: Daren Ganga (capt), Lendl Simmons, William Perkins, Richard Kelly, Amit Jaggernauth, Darren Bravo, Ravi Rampaul, Denesh Ramdin, Sherwin Ganga, Samuel Badree, Rishi Bachan, Justin Guillen, Daron Cruickshank, Navin Stewart, Kevon Cooper.
